When people hear BBQ, all they in-vision are giant slabs of meat Ribs, Chicken, Pork, Beef, Wings, & Burgers grilling & smoking on a grill, and that intoxicating BBQ aroma, that just go so well together. Owners Lori and Chef Steve Popp of Memphis Fire Barbeque Co. are making meat lovers proud. It’s a very urban, warm & friendly place with a fifties themed look, located in Winona Ont. When I asked why the fifties theme for a Southern BBQ joint, the reply I received was priceless. It’s all about family, freshly made food all prepared from scratch and that feeling of being home. This is what you will receive when you visit Memphis Fire Barbeque Co. The staff is very pleasant, it’s a BBQ joint filled with the intense smell of BBQ and it radiates all over this eatery. Memphis Fire Barbecue Co. tries to work with as many local vendors as they can, and prepares all stocks, sauces, dressings, rubs and so much more with Southern love, and they take much pride in bringing that down home feeling with each visit. I brought some of my kid crew with me on my visit, and the waitress was right on point bringing fresh-cut vegetables to the table with made in-house Ranch dressing for dipping, a kids healthy appetizer.

I loved the kid’s menu which had choices of grilled cheese, hot dogs, juicy hamburgers, home-made creamy mac & cheese and Jr. pulled pork smoked slider. Whatever your kid’s order at this BBQ eatery they will enjoy every delicious morsel, which is AAA grade for me. Memphis Barbeque Fire Co. offers that old south hospitality, starting with sweet tea (Which brought me back to my Southern days living in Virginia). I wanted to try everything on the menu, but we came to a compromise and ordered a Memphis Fire BBQ favorite. The Slider Combo, it offers a variety taste of Memphis BBQ sliders, a scrumptious display of three sliders Pulled Pork, Beef Brisket, and a Nirvana Moo Burger. I enjoyed this slider combo, the brisket was tender, moist, and full of flavor it comes served with homemade in-house apple slaw, between the crunchy tart slaw and tender brisket with the sweet and Smokey BBQ sauce it was the perfect pairing in each bite. My Nirvana Moo Burger was smoked and it came with Memphis’s BBQ famous smoked cheddar, sweet caramelized onions & a homemade tomato relish. With one bite of this Sneaky little burger, the flavors just burst with pure enjoyment.

The Pulled Pork was smoked to perfection, but the sauce was full of savory goodness, the pulled pork was so tender and served on a fresh egg bun. It was so simple just delicate shreds of slow cooked pulled pork, and smooth, smokey, tangy BBQ sauce. It was packed with a mouthful of Memphis BBQ love.

One might ask me, why I did not order ribs or fried chicken, have I thrown you for a loop, like a cow being tipped in the middle of the night Confused! Here’s why. If you’re a good BBQ eatery, then you probably already know how to smoke a great rib, don’t get me wrong it’s an art and if done well very satisfying. Seeing how the South is running through Memphis Fire BBQ veins the fried chicken is probably fabulous. I can see the smoker working at full force with the smell of Hickory radiating off this fascinating piece of machinery, I always like to see what other dishes are being created. This way I try a little bit of everything, and the curiosity of my taste buds are met. To my Vegetarians who I always like to try to include, Memphis Fire BBQ Co. does a Smokin ACES Barbeque Tofu Sandwich.

You cannot visit Memphis Fire Barbeque Company without trying the Smoked Cheddar Coney Chili Fries. A heaping portion of fresh-cut fries, golden and crispy, a blanket of fresh homemade Coney chilli, aged cheddar, red onions, sneaky cheese, and green onions. It’s everything you can ever imagine a dish like this would be. A mouthful of crispy fries, delicious meaty chili, silky smoked cheese & crunchy green onions. One bite and its a beautiful summer day, and I am watching the Wonder Wheel on the Pier.

Memphis Fire Barbeque Company takes Beef Brisket seriously and when my 6oz beef brisket sandwich arrived, it was a delightful site thick, tender, and so flavorful pieces of beef brisket with an authentic Southern taste. A plentiful portion of smoked beef brisket, lathered with a sweet Smokey hickory barbecue sauce and a Texan relish. Served on a light and fluffy egg bun, we paired this dish with some Coney Chili and don’t forget that unforgettable fresh apple slaw. It was fulfilling and full of meaty satisfaction.

This BBQ joint that has Chicken, Ribs, Pork, Brisket and more going 24-7 that’s how it’s done in the South. And now that’s how its done in here in the North. They have a saying at Memphis Fire BBQ Co. When you’re home you’re home”!

See you next time boys!
