Up

I traveled up to the Six Nations Reserve on the weekend, for there 42nd Annual Pow Wow. I couldn’t wait to go, As I have said many times before, that culture and history just fascinate me. Every day should be a learning experience. I watched many Native Tribes come together and put on a show of dancing, and expressing who they are. It was just memorizing,to see how the culture has been passed down from generation to generation. The Colours,Costumes, and History of each tribe was so enjoyable to watch, that you just had to be there to completely understand what I’m speaking of. The vendors at this event were awesome, from handmade moccasins, hand beaded barrettes, paintings, hand carved soap stone, and so much more. Of course I had to try some Native Cuisine,I headed over to the The Big Chief. I have seen them around before and had to give them a try. We ordered a Native taco, soft and tender fry bread, chilli, lettuce, tomato, cheese, with a touch of sour cream. It was a huge portion (which I loved,we all shared) but also fresh, filling,& fantastic. We also ordered some Bison sliders, juicy,& tender with sautéed mushrooms, they were also scrumptious. There was so much to see, learn, and enjoy at this event. I was also told that Tonto from the Lone Ranger was from the Six Nations, see I learned something. If you want to experience a piece of Canadian History make sure you get to next years Pow Wow.
