What a great way to celebrate Family Day, and the Start of A Taste of Burlington. I started off my morning discovering the Savage Gardens. Awesome life sized carnivorous plants, of Venus Flytrap, Sundew, and much more. With hands on activities for all ages, while learning about nature at the same time. The Natures Ninjas exhibit was truly spectacular. With an animal meet and greet of Snakes, Frogs, Turtles, Spiders, and what we truly went for, the African Pygmy HedgeHog! Well… We saw everything but that so called hedgehog. I will say this to everyone who helps make theses exhibits possible for us to view, Thank you, to all the volunteers and staff. I was really impressed and look forward to your next event.

Garden Cafe- A Taste of Burlington

To start off the first day of A Taste of Burlington I decided to head over to the Gardens Cafe. It’s a bright, vibrant and welcoming cafe, located inside the Royal Botanical Gardens. I started off with a creamy Caesar salad ( I love my Caesar) it was crisp lettuce, with seasoned croutons, and a creamy Caesar dressing, it was a perfect appetizer. My Prime Rib consisted of AAA Beef cooked to perfection, served with garlic mashed potatoes, sautéed vegetables, au jus, and horseradish. My prime rib was tender and juicy as I dipped each bite into my au jus. The garlic mashed potatoes were rustic and delicious, accompanying my sautéed vegetables. The dessert on the menu was Chefs choice and let me tell you, this chef must have been in a great mood. Serving up a sticky toffee bread pudding as my server put it. Layers of Carmel & Cake with gooey goodness in between each layer. I will rename this delectable little treat ( A Carmel Kiss ). I really enjoyed this menu because it was simple, there was no overthinking needed. Shirley Johnson the catering mastermind behind this quaint cafe, is always watching to see that her guests are getting the full dining experience. The Garden Cafe also offers a children’s menu and they are on beat to keeping the kids occupied with crayons, & stickers. The next time you venture over to the Royal Botanical Gardens, head over to the Garden Cafe for a creative Carnivorous or Vegetarianism cuisine.
