Sometimes you just have to get away (As Billy Joel said ) Take a drive, experience some different scenery, different people, a different town. So I headed to Port Perry Ontario to see some friends. What a great town Port Perry is,old buildings with walls that could tell you stories all day long, but lots of young bloods live in this town as well. I spent the day with girlfriends just experiencing a lazy day,of Farmers Markets, Local Cuisine,Snow Cones,Turkey Vultures, and checking out the famous Lake Scugog. Mikes Tasty Treats hooked me up with his famous peameal bacon on a bun,and it was worth the trip to Port Perry. Tender slices of delicious bacon with a slice of cheese, and any condiments I wish, from ketchup & mustard to sauerkraut and hot peppers. I went basic I love peameal bacon just as it is. Homemade honeys, Maple Syrups, the scent of cilantro, mint, and sage linger around the market it’s heavenly. Beverley’s bakers clearly know the meaning of butter tarts, it just melted in my mouth. Music, and the local farmers with plenty of fresh produce, which my kid corespondents Little C, Isabella, and I all tried. It was a day of delicious sampling. Afterwards we headed into town for some dessert, The Nutty Chocolatier for some gelato, tiramisu for me and of course chocolate for Carmine. Hanks Pastries….where do I begin, our weakness of rich chocolate, homemade whip cream, and light delicate pastry makes for a decadent chocolate eclair.
What a truly delicious foodie weekend. Thank you Sandy,Karen,Isabella and Port Perry for an awesome weekend.
See you soon.
