When you think of Niagara-on-the-Lake, what’s the first thing that comes to your mind? For me, it’s the beautiful wineries, and bold history surrounding gorgeous rows of grapes, growing and showing off only to be turned into a beautiful Merlot, Riesling, or Chardonnay. PELLER Estates being a winery of Grandfather Status in Niagara-on-the-Lake, and has always been one winery I wanted to visit. With the 5th year running of Food Truck Eats, I knew this year I had to come and check it out. Twenty-one Food Trucks graced the grounds of Peller Estates Winery. Meat Ventures,Pappas Greek, Hometown Ice Cream & Tropical Temptations just to name a few. A gorgeous day of sunshine, music by the Mad Hatters, and the many scents of different cuisines all around. With Chef Jason Parsons manning the Barrel House Grill, I made my way over for some BBQ. With the sweet smell of Wine all around me, I tried the Wrangler Ribs a thick juicy grilled pork rib, with an Ice Wine Glaze, served with a hearty portion of Dijon Mustard Potato salad. These ribs had me hog tied, simply delicious, and fell right off the bone. What a smart way to incorporate the Ice Wine, turn it into a glaze. I love the creativity of some chefs. My Smokey Cow was another hearty portion of charred beef brisket, with Harissa spiced coleslaw, served on a toasted focaccia bun. Sweet,Smokey, with a hint of Heat from the coleslaw was another great creation from Chef Parsons and his team. By the way, I also loved the wicked names of these dishes. With all these great eats around me, what better way to enjoy everything then with some sampling of wine. I love my white wine, and sparkling Rosé, I love my red wines as well but they have been proven to make me go a little out of my element. PELLER Estates Winery has a large variety of Reds,Whites, Ice Wines, and so much more. The grounds are beautiful for any event you may be hosting. Even with all the Food Trucks at this event, there was still an exciting vibe just to be there. The kids were enjoying themselves with games that were all over the winery grounds. What I love to see are people enjoying themselves. I saw a Gentlemen get a funnel cone, and all his kid like features returned to him, with his big grin, he couldn’t wait to dig in, and even offered to share with me. Wine pouring, Food Trucks, Music, Panama Jack samples, plenty of people, meeting new and old friends, amazing staff, and sexy Chefs. What more can you ask for in a day spent at PELLER Estates Winery. This family business once a dream now a reality has raised the bar in the wine industry one bottle at a time. I come from a family business and love to see other family businesses succeed, it’s not easy, it’s a lot of hard work and dedication and most important you must love the industry you have chosen for your career path. For a winery I wanted to visit for some time, it was worth the wait. PELLER Estates Winery doesn’t stop there, they host many functions through out the year. With the Barrel House Grill arriving soon, I am sure a new crowd of food & wine connoisseurs is sure to be pleased. I know my palate was awakened by not only great cuisines served at this years Food Truck Eats, but also the fantastic wines I tried as well. It’s amazing how one small fruit can be turned into a spectacular wine. It’s true a fine wine can always make a meal more special. What a great event to kick off the welcoming of summer, a Party in the Vineyard… Why Not!

Thank you to everyone at PELLER Estates Winery for the warm welcome.

Chef Jason Parsons a great pleasure to meet a piece of the Great Canadian Brat Pack and to your staff, I look forward to my next visit.
