Oakville Waterfront Festival

I enjoy summer because of all the festivals, my weekends are never dull. So I headed down to to the Oakville Waterfront Festival. I arrive but cannot park anywhere,this is a large problem for me. Nobody knows anything, you ask you get nothing. How are you supposed to attend an event,when you are constantly looking for parking.Even the parks had been blocked off. All I see all around Oakville are towing signs not very welcoming. I ended up parking at the Oakville Harbour Marina and walking twenty minutes to get to this festival with a three year old…..REALLY! The only highlight of today’s events were all the vendors I met,and the Food Truck Alley they had. I had lunch at Fidel Gastro’s, let me tell you the energy from this truck was electric. Matt Basile had such a welcoming presence about him, it was fun just to watch him yell OLE! Matt knows his product which I love,this is a guy who loves what he does. We ordered Sgt.Slather rich pulled pork,guacamole cream,topped with tortilla chips. It was a large portion (bang for your buck) moist,tangy,filling and I enjoyed every bite. Pad Thai Fries were plump fries that packed a punch,but I loved the Alabama Tailgaters beef carpaccio wrapped in bacon….HELLO! BACON! Everything Fidel Gastro’s served to me was right on the mark. I can’t wait till we meet again I want to try the Cheekita Cheekita! Matt great to meet you, keep the Cuban love coming OLE! The rest of the Food Truck Alley was moving and shaking all day. We arrived disgruntled,but left content.
