Murphy’s Restaurant

All of you know how I love my road trips, they always bring me to a place I can talk about. This time I entered Port Dalhousie in St. Catharines, it’s a small little town very Cape Code I would say back in its day. They have this Carousel with all original parts, you can ride it for 5 cents, that’s right I said 5 cents. It’s beautiful, has that old time music that plays as it goes in a circle, and original Lions, Giraffes, and Horses that reminded me of my Barbie horse. So nostalgic and it brought me back to my youth. With the Harbour all around me, what better place to have something to eat, than Murphy’s Restaurant. It’s a Historic building from way back in the day, a family owned business that has been passed down from generations. The nautical theme brings you back in time that even Captain Blackbeard would be impressed. The bar is an old boat, an old rescue boat, as our server gives us a history lesson, mermaids, peg legs, and old sailors, with a giant fish tank, Murphy’s also caters as a Inn. We overlook the menu and it’s plenty of seafood to choose from, mushrooms stuffed with lots and lots of crab meat, fish and chips, captains platter with battered cod, breaded shrimp, served with rice, stuffed sole, and as always my kid crew was in tow, grilled cheese & hamburgers. Everyone seemed to enjoy their meals, the only scowl I would say is that my fish & chips had a little to much batter. Now in saying that, It was still a very tender & tasty piece of fish. Murphy’s is the type of place you can go and get some great grub & grog. It has a great view of the Harbour, welcoming staff full of Historic information, and best of all it takes you back in time, who needs Pirates of the Caribbean when you have Murphy’s Restaurant.
