Bringing It To The Streets Hockey

My 2nd Annual Bringing It to the Streets Charity Hockey game, was this weekend. What a day, gorgeous weather, craft vendors, farmers market, food vendors, silent auction HOCKEY!!! And so much more. This years charity of choice was Food4Kids held at the North Burlington Baptist Church in Burlington Ont. Food4Kids provides lunch backpacks, for children on a fixed income. Each back pack is filled with kid-friendly, non perishable and easy to prepare foods, including 5 servings of fruits and vegetables per day. I must say it is an on going concern when a child goes hungry. Everyone who attended brought a food donation, or monetary donation. We had a wicked ball hockey arena for everyone to play on, you bring a donation you play for a bit. The motto of the day was Donation…Rotation. Doppelgänger was our musical guest, WOW! they were awesome as usual. We had a great turn out, and it was such a wonderful day just knowing we were all helping out, for a good cause. I want to personally thank everyone who came out to support this great event. Food4Kids had two cars full of food donations, as well as a monetary donation of $ 510.00. A 10 year old boy was waiting outside the locked doors of a school breakfast program. The program was to start at 8:15am and this child stood outside at 7:15am in the dark, cold and alone. He explained he had not had any food on the weekend and was hungry. Could he please have some food? This child has inspired the launching of the FOOD4KIDS program. You all made it happen this weekend, Thank you once again and I look forward to seeing everyone at next years event.
