What do you get, when you put together a baker & a chef…. mmm Sugar a welcomed new shoppe in Burlington Ont. Upon walking into this Bake shoppe I was expecting to see lots of homemade indulgences for me to enjoy. What I found was a big blank chalk board and store-bought items such as Cupcakes, Danishes, & Cookies. I was just as surprised as you are. Although the owner tells me that her homemade cakes are her claim to fame. With just about any design you have mmm Sugar can pretty much nail it. As I looked around at her daily cakes orders, mmm Sugar is busy. This bake shoppe has a warm and urban feel upon walking inside, with its warm browns, and comforting hues all around you. Although I couldn’t really try any sweets, the owner tells me that she is working on a whole new menu of freshly baked items and more for the new year. I did however try a few of the Samosas, and although the inside filling was full of flavor, I did not like the Phyllo pastry surrounding it. I prefer when I bite into Phyllo pastry, that it crunches with a light airy feel in my mouth, but instead it fell flat with a lifeless texture. Every new business has its share of Cinnamon & Peppercorns. I am sure once the new year is upon us, mmm Sugar will be full of plenty Sugar and Spice and everything nice.
