Happy Thanksgiving to all my loyal readers. While most of you are enjoying Turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce & pumpkin pie. I spent the day at the 164th Rockton Worlds Fair in Rockton Ont. When I heard of this Rockton Worlds Fair, it reminded me of my days living in the South with its grand name, and fair like activities.

This Worlds Fair is the real deal, from the minute you walk up to the gate, you see the magical ferris wheel and you smell the sweet delectable popcorn, donuts, and many fried carnival featured eats. Its agriculture show is like being at a smaller version of  The Royal Agriculture Fair. Featuring a Beef Day, Goat Day & Sheep Day to name a few. A giant pumpkin championship, pie eating contest & tractor pull are some other great events to check out.

As I walked around this fair, I was so mesmerized by all the carnival eats, that I didn’t know where to begin. Peameal bacon on a bun, gourmet pizza, Philly steak, blooming onion, ice cream, & carmel corn. My taste buds and I could have spent the weekend just moving from one eatery booth to another. The Rockton Worlds Fair featured so many things that its worth the trip to see this Worlds Fair.

What I found most fascinating was the Demolition Derby. I have never been to one of these Demolition Derby shows, so I couldn’t wait to see the smash-up begin. I watched fire extinguishers being placed around the track ( just in case) the stands fill up with guests waiting for the festivities to start. I wait…..and wait….then it happens the sound of engines and its LOUD!

They come charging in and the scent of exhaust, oil, gas, & dirt are all over. These sponsored cars are being driven by women and men from all over, it’s awesome and in the blink of an eye one derby car smashes and tips right over in front of me. The crew comes out and checks to see if everything is o.k, and they all come together to tip the car back to its rightfull way. As daylight goes to sleep, and nightfall comes into play, The Rockton Worlds Fair really comes alive.

With brightly coloured rides flashing, the eatery’s are really working it now, and Winner ! Winner! is being called out from everywhere from the carnival games. It really is quite a sight, can be overwhelming with all the people trying to enjoy this four-day fair.

Put the turkey in the oven, get the family together and head out to the fair. After 164 years The Rockton Worlds Fair is still growing strong from their roots as they put it. I loved it! and can’t wait till next year, its my new Thanksgiving tradition.
