Niagara-on-the-Lake is known for Historic buildings, Shaw Festival, splendid shopping, and impressive restaurants. So when I went for lunch at Orzo restaurant located in Niagara-on-the-Lake Ontario. I was expecting to be impressed. This upbeat, modern, eatery is very inviting from the street. As I was seated, greeted, and cheated as I am going to phrase this. You see Niagara-on-the-Lake has always been somewhat of a tourist attraction, so you know upon going there, prices are going to be escalated. I will say this, please do not take your customers for idiots.

As my guests and I ordered from Orzo’s menu everything looked somewhat wonderful. I ordered the All Beef Hamburger, 100% beef burger with lettuce, tomato, onion & pickle with mayo on a brioche bun. What I received was unpalatable, Presentation please! Chef’s we eat with our eyes first. Spanish onions all over the place not even sliced properly, almost like they were leftover from something else, and way to much mayo, so much mayo that my so-called gourmet hamburger would not even stay together, but slipped and slid all over the place, and cold fries ($15.95). Not impressed at all was I. The Porchetta Sandwich was no better, slow roasted pork belly,(I don’t think so) fresh lettuce, tomato, dressed with Aioli mayo served on a pretzel bun, with no flavor, and served with cold fries ($17.95).

Nothing we ordered from this establishment came out hot and fresh. It’s disappointing, considering we are paying top dollar for what is supposed to be a considerable meal. Just because we are at a tourist destination, does not mean you can suck the life out your patrons purses & wallets. We all have bad days I get it, sometimes the line in the back goes crooked for a bit. It should not matter how busy you are, never compromise quality it will ruin you. It’s not often I get to upset over a poor establishment, but I could clearly see the day I visited Orzo restaurant, that the it was hotter than the Sahara desert on a summer day. In saying that you never let your clients see that you are under pressure. If the kitchen was letting dishes leave the line without checking it, shame on them. Keep in mind the server will suffer, getting the brunt of a disgruntled customer, therefore the tip goes downhill.

Orzo’s restaurant motto may be “Taste Our Passion” The only thing I experienced and tasted was disappointment. I suggest they go back to where they started from, and try to find that Passion they speak so highly of, because it has certainly left the building and went sight-seeing on its own in Niagara-on-the-Lake.

Passion (from the Latin verb patere meaning to suffer) is a term applied to a very strong feeling about a person or thing. Passion is an intense emotion, compelling enthusiasm or desire for anything.

      Good Afternoon

You must have me mistaken for someone else, When I entered your restaurant you were very busy and I was just visiting friends in town, we had stopped for lunch. Your staff did not even know I was observing them until the bill was paid and my experience was over at your establishment. I never request FREE MEALS in exchange for a write up. I don’t do business like that.
