Lettuce Eat! A great play on words. When St. Christopher’s Church held its Open Doors Community event, I went famished. St. Christopher’s helps provide over 12,000 meals a year to the community. Local Food Trucks pulled into the driveway and hungry locals were there to support.

The Panwhich Company was their with deep-fried hot dogs, hamburgers, and ice cream. A crispy way to serve up some picnic favourites. I brought some of Da Clubhouse kids with me, and they all had deep-fried ice cream on their mind. A deep-fried ice cream pan puff filled with cold ice cream, whipped cream & your choice of chocolate, strawberry, or Carmel flavour.

The Green Machine Smoothie truck was a delight to see, it was a very hot evening and I couldn’t wait to sink my teeth into a homemade Popsicle. Watermelon, Lime and Strawberry was my choice, and the flavours were bursting with warm summers in mind. This truck takes local fruits and transforms them into unique smoothies. My homemade Strawberry Lemonade was definitely pleasing to my taste buds, freshly picked strawberries blended with a special recipe of lemonade. So refreshing I bought two, one on the way in and one on they way out.

The True North BBQ Food Truck took their art of BBQ and showed Burlington that the True North has come into town. The sweet & smokey smell coming from this truck brought my nose senses right to it. I ordered the dirty bird tacos, plenty of tender smoked chicken, fresh arugula salad, homemade crisp apple slaw, and a secret homemade sauce. I throughly enjoyed these dirty bird taco’s. I do however have one complaint, I would have preferred them in a soft tortilla rather than a hard crunchy taco shell. Never the less The True North BBQ Food Truck took Canadian BBQ and made our Maple Leaf wave proud and strong.

To help our community 10% of all the funds collected from this community event, go back into helping with community food programs. So come out every Wednesday night throughout the summer 5:oopm to 8:00pm see you there.

St. Christopher’s is not only a church to worship. It’s a place for people to come together, to be a community. It’s important in today’s world, just to have a place to go and be yourself with no judgment. Such a great event to be a part of. Lettuce Eat! TOGETHER!
