She shoots! She Scores! This weekend I fully understood the saying Hat Trick! I took a drive out to Niagara Falls Ont. where I checked out the Blue Line Diner. For you Hockey fans out there this place holds a cornucopia of all sports memorabilia for purchase. Hockey, Football, Boxing, Baseball and so much more licensed sports items. It’s also functions as a diner, but not just any diner. The Blue Line Diner is home of Marcel Dionne one of the greatest hockey’s players around. Marcel Dionne is a Hockey Hall of Famer, was the third highest scorer ever, scored 731 goals in his career. Mr. Dionne as I called him, started with the Detroit Red Wings, then the L.A Kings, and retired with the New York Rangers. Mr. Dionne’s daughter Lisa runs the Blue Line Diner, here’s where my story begins.

I drove up to this Diner, was welcomed right away. As we sat down in what I refer to as the Man Cave, there are sports items everywhere even on the ceiling. Lisa comes over and BOOM! it begins, Lisa is full of life, truly loves what she does. As she explains the menu to us, we are already laughing, and just enjoying the whole experience the Blue Line Diner has to offer. As we look over what do we see, Marcel Dionne doing the dirty dishes. I was both stunned and yet amazed. I come from a family business and know what it’s like to do all jobs. Mr. Dionne then comes over and greets us, and it was Awesome! This family business is cooking with gas. Homemade breads made daily, pancake batter whipped to perfection, and eggs cracking by the minute. We ordered my favourite of course Eggs Benedict. Now the Dionne’s are of French descent, but my word, they must have some Italian in them somewhere. The Blue Line Diner gives plentiful portions, at great prices. Our dishes were full of seasoned home fries, and two large portions of perfect poached eggs, with house made hollandaise sauce. Omg! The way my egg yolk just gave a warm runny blanket to my english muffin, it was the perfect goal. Little C of course ordered his grilled cheese, two large slices of toasted bread, with gooey cheddar cheese. This time he wanted crispy bacon as well, that triggered another order of Eggs Benedict but instead of peameal bacon we wanted crispy bacon. Everything was delicious and made from the heart. I truly felt like I was in someone’s home having a great brunch. That’s what it’s all about. Great Food, Great Atmoshere, & Great People. You want to know what my hat trick was. I had a great Brunch, met the Dionne Family, & enjoyed every minute of my visit.

You guys want a great place to get some great eats, and meet a really cool Hockey Player, get down to the Blue Line Diner. Tell them dabutchersdaughter sent you.

Thank you Dionne Family for your hospitality, and I will be back for Lunch.
