I was walking along Locke St. in Hamilton Ont. when a big large Green Cupcake caught my eye. Bitten Cupcakes & Whoopie Pies is a little bakery with lots of flare & flavor. An older building has been brought to life with the colors of bright green, which I found refreshing and full of life. With the sweet aroma of so many sweet scents hitting my nose, I am intrigued on what Bitten has to offer. Owners Rebecca Tomasic & Erica Savoy are baking up not only moist, rich & delectable Cupcakes but these home bakers also specialize in Butter Tarts and Whoopie Pies. When I hear the word Whoopie, there is a specific song that plays in my head.
This 1920 treat has made a tremendous comeback, with Bitten reinventing such fabulous flavors as The Stoner, Peppermint Patty & Makin Whoopie (see theirs the song I was speaking about).
Bitten’s cupcakes have fabulous names as well Berry Manilow (who I still listen to) B.S Banana Spilt, you thought it was something else eh! Drunken Leprechaun, Han Rolo & He Shoots He Skors. Want to know what’s in these flavors, you will have to visit and get Bitten for yourself. This bakery also make s a giant Whoopie Pie’s for parties.
With the menu changing every day, you have your pick of different flavors with fresh real ingredients. You can see what Bitten is making daily in their open concept kitchen. I look at Bitten’s display case and my sweet tooth can’t decide, Rebecca goes threw the flavors as she does with each customer that comes in. Raspberry White Chocolate, Vanilla Strawberry & Maple Bacon to name a few. I soon lock eyes with my Cadbury Cream Egg Cupcake & my Lemon Raspberry Whoopie Pie. I can’t wait to get home and enjoy it with my Little C.
We open our bright green box and can’t wait to get Bitten by our intense, luscious, and mouth-watering treats. When I asked where does the name come from, Rebecca tells me it just came to them. Bitten Cupcakes & Whoopie Pies on Locke is biting one client at a time. You know the saying “Once Bitten Twice Shy” no such thing with Bitten Cupcakes & Whoopie Pies I can’t wait till my next visit so I can get Bitten again.
