With summer in full force, what better way to enjoy a beautiful sunny day than sitting on a patio along the beach. Where is this oasis… Barangas on the Beach in Hamilton Ont. Barangas which means ” Beach Hut ” in Greek could not have picked a better name. The minute I walked into Barangas I was on holidays. This once a school in the 1950’s has now been transformed to an authentic Greek restaurant. The beautiful high ceilings, large windows where you get a view of the Beach from anywhere you sit, and of course the patio. As I am shown to my table I can’t help but glance at everyone enjoying themselves with delicious Greek cuisine, cocktails, the sun, the beach breeze, and the live playing of Latin music. The patio may be the place to be, but it’s not for everyone some patrons get a little chilly, not to worry Barangas has you covered by offering blankets so you stay warm and get the full experience. Margarita and her Husband the owners of this little piece of Greece, are no strangers to the restaurant industry. They understand what it means to dine out. Margarita sat down with us and discussed how important her customers are. Without your customers you have no business. Barangas staff is always walking around making sure everyone is well served. This family owned business is what makes Barangas special “Family Owned”. Nothing gets by these owners but precise quality & service. Which brings me the Saganaki, Greek Kefalotiri cheese imported from Greece    ( now that’s authentic) seared in olive oil and set on fire with vodka! With a squirt of lemon. OPA! No way! Barangas! Yes way! They serve this dish with fresh crusty bread and wow it’s amazing how all the flavours bind together in your mouth and you just enjoy every bite. Our Spanakopita homemade in-house, are Greek pastry pillows. These perfect filo pastry triangles are stuffed and I mean stuffed with fresh spinach, feta cheese, onions, and just the right amount of dill. Each bite just melted in my mouth. Barangas also serves pastas, fish dishes, chicken, steak, and so many other great Greek cuisines. I love to visit places where owners truly love what they do, you have to love the restaurant business to be in it. Barangas had a vision and made it a success. It used to be all ” Greek to Me” but now it’s truly Barangas On the Beach!

Thank you Margarita for the warmest welcome, and to your family & staff.

See you soon.
