I have always wanted to go to Italy, just to try the Pizza. I am not a huge pizza eater, but I stumbled upon Son of a Peach in Burlington Ont. I know it’s a weird name, but it stems from the family being from Stoney Creek Ont. and the family from what I was told owned a peach farm. Get it “Son of a Peach” kinda like DaButchers Daughter.

The decor in this pizza joint is funky & warm with pink Moose’s, unicorns, & weird pictures of what I called mozzarella blobs ( I liked them their were very different and cute). The waiter came over with a nicely presented specials of the day. The one pizza we wanted which was the Fig & Prosciutto they could not make ( No Figs) then why keep it on the menu. I had ordered a pizza with just pepperoni, the waiter said we do not have pepperoni. I have never heard of a pizza joint with no pepperoni in-house. I then proceeded to order a cranberry juice, Nope! No cranberry juice in-house as well. For me that’s three strikes. Son of a Peach had to redeem itself.

With the smell of pizza dough baking, and slowly teasing my taste buds. I went ahead and ordered a Wild Mushroom pizza. It soon graced our table with the scent of homemade tomato sauce, sizzling mozzarella, loads of mushrooms, thyme, and baked to perfection light and crispy pizza dough. We substituted our Pepperoni issue with meatballs (Homemade) I was not disappointed, a generous portion on each slice, it was very deliciously flavorful. I also tried Son of a Peaches Mini Mac’s three juicy locally raised beef sliders with blue cheese, cheddar, and smoked Gouda served with Taro chips. These Mini Macs were MAC-nificent. I will say I could eat just a large bowl of the Taro Chips, crispy, light, with a hint of salt and vinegar, & a touch of Parmigiano Reggiano on top.
Although we started out a little rough, things got a little better with every bite. Son of Peach has a different vibe to it, with the homemade items, and wanting to use local ingredients. I like that! What Does Love + Pizza = A happy Customer. Can I compare Son of Peach to Italy…… I don’t know…. I will let you know when I get there.
