When I saw the Harbour Diner featured on ” You Gotta Eat Here” many moons ago, I got to thinking I have to try this place. One! It’s in Hamilton Ont. how cool is that, and Two! The food was great. The Harbour Diner is nothing to look at, but as you enter you feel right at home. Your greeted, then led to a table kinda like being at your Grandma’s house. It’s small and very cozy, with old decor I’m going to say probably from the fifties late sixties? I love the old charm. They have a large family style table where parties of one or ten can all sit. Or you can just sit by yourself, someone will come along sit down and before you know it, you have made a new friend. Home Cooking made with love like I remember. The smell of eggs being scrambled & fried, French toast, pancakes, & pies being made. Make sure you ask for the daily specials you will not be disappointed. Cinnamon Raisin French Toast, thick slices of hand dipped raisin bread, cinnamon & icing sugar and it comes with butter and maple syrup. What’s cool is the maple syrup comes in a small individual syrup pourer, like my mom had when we were kids ” I know it’s silly right” but it was great I loved every bite. We also tried the Salmon Eggs Benedict, it was a Harbour Diner Special. Perfect poached eggs, salmon, on a toasted English muffin, and rich hollandaise sauce. You just can’t go wrong in the Harbour Diner. Everything homemade, great service, and overall a great hangout for all. It’s also in an old part of Hamilton Ontario where plenty of history once was, and of course it’s near the Harbour. They weren’t wrong when they said ” You Gotta Eat Here” trust me DaButchersDaughter says so.
