Today was such a gorgeous day, I got in the car and just drove. I ended up in Chippawa, Ontario, a small but very historic town. The very town where Laura Secord lived and died. Driving threw this little town, it’s very nostalgic. Our journey brought us to The Chippawa House, a historic restaurant, once a bowling alley, then a bakery and now my new found treasure. Upon walking into this restaurant, I was welcomed by a Euchre Tournament it was wicked. ( I don’t know anyone who plays Euchre these days) We sat down and couldn’t wait to order. Our appetizer was jalapeño poppers, and that’s just what they did with every bite. Little C ordered the usual Grilled Cheese and fries, and the smile on his face said it all. We ordered Cajun Wings that were done to perfection, with just the right amount of Cajun seasoning, Crispy,and flavourful. I ordered the Chippawa Club, now, I have had my fair share of Club Sandwiches, but this Chippawa Club was the paradisiacal of sandwiches. A generous portion of Tender Turkey, Bacon, Lettuce, and Tomato all married together with mayo and lightly toasted bread. I was in heaven with each bite, and the fries hand cut each day, nothing says delicious like a hand cut fry. I don’t know who’s in the kitchen over there, but my tastebuds say Thank you. The tables were made from the old bowling alley lanes “Clever” also back in the day, the Men and Women had different rooms to have there cocktails in. This place also has a large bar, pool tables, dart boards, and all the bar amenities.
They can also service large parties. Our server of almost 32 years, Sherry Lynn gave us a tour and a bit of History on the ol Chippawa House. History will always be part of life, it’s what makes our future.
