I don’t regularly do reviews on franchise restaurants. Although today was an exception I have a student here from Spain,Sergio is his name,and Mike who is a hockey fanatic, so I figured what the heck, when people think of Canada the first thing that comes to mind…..HOCKEY! We entered and Mike being star struck,checking every bit of Hockey memorabilia among the place. I admit, I am a fan of Wendel I have met him three times, and he just seems like a real down to earth,modest,family man. I love that. The boys ordered and Sergio going full Canadian ordering a Wendel Burger (Nice Choice) Mike ordered wings and beer (Nice) and Little C French fries (that’s my boy) I did not order anything,I decided to rely on the taste buds of the company I was with. The burger looked very juicy,and dressed well,with lettuce,tomatoes,bacon & pickles. I am quite sure that watching Sergio turn his burger upside down to get a huge bite. It was a goal. Mikes wings came to the table and before I knew it, they were gone, just bones were left,succulent is how I would describe them. Little C’s French fries crisp,and golden perfection,I would say that’s three for three in my Hockey world, It’s my form of a HAT TRICK! Service was great, Mike found a photo in Wendels that caused him to question the manager on duty. Mike asked why Wendel Clark would be with this one guy in a photo downstairs by the bathrooms. Well the manger went right to work to find out who this person was,but couldn’t figure it out. So hey after our meal we left,but Mike couldn’t leave it alone halfway home ,realizing we left our umbrella there,Mike not only went to get it,but figured out the guy in the photo was Peter Zezel who passed away in May 2009 and played with Wendel at one point in time. When you walk around Wendel Clark’s there are different photos of friends,family & colleagues. It’s not only a place to watch a sporting event, or have a great meal,but a great place to see how a legend is still just a modest guy who enjoys a beer and a hockey game. In my eyes thats a GOAL!
